Local Touches During Wedding Season

Local Touches During Wedding Season

If you’re between the ages of 24-30, you’re probably going from one wedding to the next this summer.  One friend of mine has eight weddings in nine weeks.

I’ve started to reflect on some of these events and one couple in particular, did a great job of highlighting local Seattle companies.  I liked this idea because they used purveyors that are unique to the area (bread, cupcakes, wine).  In Washington, we are blessed with an ecosystem rich for produce and nurturing to grape vines, plus a food scene with bakeries-a-plenty.  Yes, most people use a local bakery for the cake, but it’s kind of fun to know where/who made your sweet.  It felt personalized.

After a few glasses of Januik Novelty Hill wine, we hit the dance floor in a big way.

Foodie Note:  If you have an opportunity to visit Januik winery, their space is super modern and posh.  Go there on a Friday autumn afternoon, purchase a bottle and grab a seat near the fireplace.  Unwind over a glass and enjoy a moment of leisure.  I planned a Christmas event there years ago with a winery tour for guests during cocktail hour.  There is a spacious tasting area to gather, beautiful patio and separate dining room for dinner.

Happy Wedding Season Foodies!
