There’s a new taco in Tijuana that is topping my “Eat This” list!
My friend Serghio Munoz and his chef friends Oso and Pablo Campos, are the owners of Kokopelli, a new restaurant in Tijuana. Their adventure began with a food truck two and a half years ago. Since then, they’ve added a food stall and last week celebrated the grand opening of their first full fledged Kokopelli restaurant! (Congrats gentlemen!)
Serghio, Oso and Pablo are creating serious buzz in the neighborhood and not just because this spot has panache. Oso and Pablo are transforming the beloved utilitarian taco into a tortilla experience. The handheld meals are filled with everything from charred portobello topped with Mexican pesto to fresh-from-the-sea octopus.
Full disclosure I haven’t tried these South of the border delicacies yet either, but I’m doing my best to convince Serghio to indulge me in a taco excursion next weekend. After seeing scrumptious photos and hearing about this emerging restaurant destination, my passport is ready to travel!
Here’s a few photos to whet your appetite. Warning: your mouth may water.
