
Treat Yo’ Self (Right) Tuesday: Blueberry Ginger Smoothie
It’s Tuesday July 2nd and this is the in-between time from last weekends sunny cocktail filled festivities and Thursdays celebration. That means we have three days to recoup, detox and prepare for the next round of fun. Add this smoothie into your edible arsenal today to reignite your mental awareness and calm your agitated stomach. This is a perfect pre-workout-snack or good-morning-breakfast. Foodie Note: Ginger not only eases digestion, but is the ultimate nausea relief. Blueberries, considered a “superfood”, have anti-inflamitory properties and boost brain function.
Serves 2:
Ingredients
1 cup blueberries
1/2-inch fresh ginger (peeled and grated)
1 peach, pit removed and quartered
2 ice cubes
1 handful lettuce or spinach
2 leaves kale, stems removed
1/2 cup orange juice
Directions:
1) Using the edge of a spoon, rub away ginger peel. Zest or grate it directly into blender.
2) Add all other ingredients into blender and puree until smooth. If mixture it too thick, add a few tablespoons of water.
